The First National Bank of Dieterich was chartered on November 15, 1909. It has operated since that time as a community bank serving the Dieterich community and the surrounding areas of Effingham, Jasper and Clay counties.

The bank grew as customers from neighboring areas opened accounts. In response, the bank opened the National Trail Banking Center Branch on Illinois Route 40 east of Effingham on July 18, 1996 and the Newton Branch located in the Newton IGA store on September 17, 1996. The Lake Sara Branch located inside the BP Convenience store on the Lake Sara Road opened November 22, 1999. Then recently on June 2,2008, the bank opened the Effingham branch that is located on West Fayette in Effingham. Each branch is staffed with a loan officer to serve the borrowing needs of the area and each location has drive up windows and an ATM for our customers' convenience.
